Job Summary

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining highly scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure application and service solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solution design.  For applications, you will define the full stack architecture for a solution and the systems architecture needed to ensure a comprehensive build of an application per the software strategy.  For shared services, you will define the cloud-native architectures, optimize system performance, ensure security and compliance, and automate processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, particularly leveraging Terraform and Bicep.

Job responsibilities 

• Architect, design, and implement solution architecture for custom built application solutions ensuring all pieces of the solution are defined with modularity for decoupling. 
• Collaborate with product managers, data, infrastructure, platform services, data science teams to ensure all capabilities are included in the design.
• Articulate the technical design to project managers so they can create project plans.
• Architect, design, and implement cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), leveraging the full range of Azure and Oracle services and capabilities.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate infrastructure requirements into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ensure seamless deployment and operations.
• Develop and implement automation scripts and templates using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, with a focus on Terraform and Bicep, to provision and manage Azure and OCI resources efficiently.
• Design and implement DevOps practices to automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of Azure-based systems.
• Implement and manage networking solutions on Azure and Oracle Cloud, including VNETs, subnets, NSGs, load balancers, and DNS configurations, to ensure high availability and performance.
• Define and enforce security best practices and compliance requirements on Azure, including Azure Active Directory (AAD), role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, network security, and threat detection.
• Monitor system performance and reliability on Azure and Oracle Cloud, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and application solution architectures and managing cloud infrastructure solutions, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience with developing applications, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, particularly Terraform, Bicep and ARM templates.
• Understanding and modeling complex systems, recognizing patterns and designing scalable architectures
• Understanding Business Processes and how technology can drive business goals
• Strong expertise in DevOps practices and tools, including Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes on Azure Kubernetes Service).
• Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and VPNs, with specific experience in Azure networking.
• Proficiency in Logging and Monitoring Tools - Azure Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, Oracle Ops Insights, Datadog, AppDynamics, Cisco Full Stack Observability and Security Logging and Monitoring Tools like Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Oracle Cloud Guard
• Ability to analyze log data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential security threats.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Azure security best practices and compliance standards, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or related Azure certifications are a plus.
