Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

As a company purpose-built to challenge the old ways of biopharmaceutical development, we don’t view diversity as a nice to have. It’s the foundation of who we are.  We continually develop innovative solutions for our customers and equally seek to identify solutions that accelerate employee diversity. We believe that by diversifying and strengthening our knowledge of real-word challenges, we will create better outcomes for patients worldwide.

Our approach to DE&I reflects our Company values – manifested by our commitments to Challenge the Status Quo, Collaborate to Deliver Solutions, and be Passionate to Save Lives.

Each of us plays a role in driving DE&I throughout the organization, and we drive accountability for these efforts with our DE&I Council. Our Council actively drives DE&I efforts across the business, advocates for underrepresented voices and provides strategic guidance on our DE&I programs, goals and areas of focus across the enterprise.

At Syneos Health, “diversity” includes culture, race and ethnicity; age and generation, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation/identity, religious and spiritual beliefs, disability and neurodiversity, socioeconomic status and background. Increasing diversity at the leadership level (Director and above) across the organization to reflect our employees, customers and communities is a key goal. It means that we are:

  • Intentionally creating recruitment and sourcing strategies that attract talent
  • Purposefully developing internal talent
  • Actively fostering an inclusive environment that promotes engagement and retention

These actions also require understanding what diversity, equity and inclusion means across our global footprint. We rely on our Employee Resource Groups (ERG) and business communities to help lead the way. These resource groups have been created by employees and are voluntarily led by employees for employees.

When it comes to our customers, our goal is to become the partner of choice in driving clinical trial diversity by leveraging data and providing insights to achieve better health outcomes for all patients. Our commitment to customers includes:

  • Integrating DE&I into our processes and organizational structure and clinical development project planning and execution
  • Leveraging data through offerings focused on health equity analytics, provider and site identification, treater identification, targeted engagement
  • Incorporating DE&I perspectives
    • On our Consulting teams using a DE&I Diagnostic approach to assessing the depth, breadth and effectiveness of DE&I solutions

Through groups such as our Rare Disease and Patient Voice Consortiums, we work to address the key needs of the patient communities we serve, as well as the communities where we work and live. We do this by building relationships with community-based organizations and influencers to reach underrepresented populations.
