Rethinking the Role of Personal Doctors in Clinical Trial Recruitment

Most traditional patient recruitment activity focuses on outreach to sites and directly to patients. A relatively untapped resource are the many healthcare providers (HCPs) who practice within reach of a trial site and might consider referring patients – if only they knew about it.

Syneos Health conducted a survey focused on understanding whether doctors would refer patients, in what circumstances they would or would not do so and how they learn about clinical trials. The goal of the survey was to understand whether communicating with patients’ personal healthcare providers about clinical trials could tip the scales in favor of more efficient patient enrollment, and if so, how best to present clinical trial information to them to achieve that goal.
